Who's responsible

Service Area Scout is operated by Bold Coast Marketing Group (Maine, USA). Privacy questions and requests:support@serviceareascout.com.

What we collect

• Account data — your name, email, and password hash.
• Business inputs — the trade, market, and service-area towns you give us to generate a report.
• Payment metadata — order and status records; card numbers are held by Stripe, never by us.
• Usage data — session cookies and operational logs needed to run and secure the service.
• Support correspondence — if you write to us.

How we use it

To generate your Scout Reports, authenticate you, take payment, send transactional email (report ready, refund, account verification — no marketing without a separate opt-in), provide support, and improve the product. We do not sell personal data.

Who processes it for us

• DataForSEO — search demand and search-results data used to build your report.
• Anthropic — AI text generation for report narrative — it receives your business type, location scope, and service-area town names, never your payment details; every number in a report comes from data, not the AI.
• Stripe — payment processing and tax — card numbers never touch our servers.
• Cloudflare — hosting, storage, and security for the whole application.
• Emailit — transactional email delivery (report-ready notes, account emails).

A deliberate boundary: the AI layer writes words, never numbers. It receives the categories of data available for your market — not your payment details, and every figure in a report is slot-filled from sourced data after the prose is written.

Retention & deletion

Your reports and account data are kept while your account is active — a report is a paid artifact you may want years later. Cached third-party search data is retained under the source’s freshness rules. To delete your account and its data, emailsupport@serviceareascout.com; we’ll confirm within a few business days. Payment records are retained as required for tax and accounting.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, export your reports, or delete your account — all via the email above. If your jurisdiction grants specific rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar), we honor requests under them the same way.

Cookies

We use strictly-necessary cookies only: your login session. No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics cookies, and our transactional emails carry no tracking pixels. If that ever changes, this policy and a consent mechanism will change first.

Security

The service runs on Cloudflare with encrypted secrets, least-privilege access, tenant-isolated data, and TLS everywhere. If a breach affects your data, we will notify you without undue delay.

International transfers & children

Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. The service is for businesses and is not directed to children.

Material changes are posted here with a new “last updated” date.
